What it is like to die.

I remember a question that was asked by a reader of the Tamil magazine 'Ananda Vikatan'.

Question:
How do I get relieved of the fear of death?

Answer: (by Madan, the famous cartoonist)
When death occurs, we will not be there; so why fear the unknown?

Great reply-isn't it?

"What it is like to die?"-the question that cannot be answered by anyone is taken up for a bit of explanation by a few scientists and their observation is reported in Sky News.

"New Scientist magazine has pondered the subject in great depth in its latest issue, discussing the various ways of meeting one's end, from being burned alive to drowning and decapitation.

The experts have taken their evidence from advances in medical sciences and accounts from lucky survivors. Whatever the mode of death, it is usually a lack of oxygen to the brain that delivers the "coup de grace", says the report.".

An interesting study but why take up this research? Will it in anyway alleviate the fear of death? No, I don't think so.
