Who will win the FIFA world cup?

Working out various permutations and combinations, pouring over history and statistics, arguing and debating in bars and restaurants, every possible result is being arrived at. At least this is what I am reading in newspapers.

May be I am the odd woman out amidst this crazy following.
I am at a financial loss due to the recent gold price fluctuation.

There are several attempts to cheer me up by making me accept that I have not truly lost any cash but only made a small loss against profit since my present bullion holding was bought years ago for a very small price when compared to the current price.

But tell me sir; a loss is a loss-isn’t it?
One thing that truly pepped me up is general envy among my friends that I had been wise to have diversified my investment portfolio in precious metals apart from stocks and shares and immovable assets.

I remember reading long ago that political uncertainties, and frequent change of Govt policies is sure to affect the economy of the common man more than the Govt.

The advantages of investing in bullion market:
Easy liquidity
Insured against decline in the value of national currency
Assured price appreciation

A simple proof as told by the web release for Silver:

“When you were able to buy gas for only 25-cents a gallon, you could take a dollar down to the gas station and buy four gallons for a buck! At that time our dollar was backed by REAL money, real silver. Guess what? That same amount of silver still buys four gallons of gas! That just shows that real money like gold and silver holds its value and it is the green paper money that is now worth a lot less.”

Monex has this data in their site:
“Do you know the price of gold increased approximately 6% in 2004, while the price of silver increased over 15%.”
Since 1967, well over one hundred thousand investors have purchased billions of dollars of gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion coins, worth over $25 billion from Monex, one of the country's oldest, largest and most experienced firms specializing in precious metals for the individual investor.

Aim+ effort=Joy

Right from our school days, we have been bombarded by our teachers and peers to have an aim in our life.

Naturally, we have never taken it seriously (I am not an excluded) till we catch up ourselves with somewhat bleak future and dark roads. Because, we were never explained in a pragmatic way, why we should set up an aim.

But I am truly awakened at the ripe age of 50, when I started reading 'Questions and Answers by The Mother', a series of 4 volumes.

Here is what she says about aim and effort:

An aim gives a meaning, a purpose in life and this purpose implies an effort. And it is in effort that one finds joy. Effort makes the being vibrate at a certain degree of tension, which make it possible for you to feel the joy.

These vibrations enable you to get connected with Universal vibrations. It is effort which pulls you out of inertia. It is effort which makes you receptive to Universal forces.

How?
For example, a man sits down to write a book (or a blog entry) he makes an effort which sets vibrating something in his brain to attract ideas. Suddenly, this man experiences joy. Whatever you do like sweeping a room or cooking, if you make the necessary effort to do it to the maximum of your ability, you will joy.

When you want to realize something, you make a spontaneous effort. This concentrates your energies on the thing to be realized and that gives a meaning to your life.
This gives you the power to receive energies in exchange for those you spend.

Want to overcome your regrets?

Before expressing what I have read about the subject, I want to quote here one of the best pieces of advice I have read elsewhere.

“The two most fuile emotions in our life are worry and guilt.
Guilt for has been done and worry for what might be done.”

Both are absolutely inconseqential NOW.

Have you ever heard of a life without regrets? No? We all regret our actions in the past.
I have heard so many times ‘ No, I have no regrets’. But I never said that sentence. I do regret several of my actions and decisions and I vowed never to repeat in my life.

But I must confess that , regrets can become big burdens that stand in the way for my present happiness.
I read about the following steps to overcome my regerts in a site called wikihow.com
I share with you for your benefit. If you find it useful, share it with others.

Steps
Determine what your regret really is. Do you regret something you did? Something you didn't do? Something someone else did or did not do?

A circumstance beyond your control? It is important to step back from the feelings of regret and identify exactly what the regret is.

Analyze the regret and how you look at it. How does it make you feel? Is it based on facts? Are your feelings distorting what really happened or making it worse? Is this confusion limiting you in your current relationships and objectives? Are you trying to be perfect or change future events when that is not possible? You may also regret a situation over which you had little or no control, or a situation that you assume would have happened if you had chosen differently. Taking a good look at how you're thinking - and identifying possible fallacies in your thinking - is vital to working through regrets, but it takes time, effort, and usually some outside help.

Accept the circumstances. There may be responsibility for yourself or others. Recognize the responsibility, not blame, as well as the consequences of holding on to the regret.

Grieve for your regrets. When we feel regret, we are feeling sadness, anger, or whatever other feelings we first had for a situation - even though the experience is past. Allowing yourself to experience these feelings with the intention of moving forward can help you stop revisiting them over and over.

Forgive and make amends. If there is something that you can do now, do it! Apologize for your behavior. Breaking limiting behavioral patterns empowers you toward productive patterns. "Fix" whatever you can. Forgive yourself and others, and be compassionate toward everyone involved. If you find it helpful, use prayer or meditation to seek insight, courage, strength, forgiveness and peace.

Recognize what you have learned or gained. When you find yourself thinking of the regret, turn your thoughts to the things you have learned and the opportunities that are now yours - even if they are not what you would have preferred. There is always a lesson even in pain and sadness. Look for the lesson and focus on it instead of what might have been.

Tips
Writing about your regrets, feelings, and frustrations can help a lot as you seek to identify and analyze your regrets. Putting your thoughts into written words can clarify them in ways that will astonish you. Writing also takes a regret out of your internal emotions and puts it down where you can study and find ways to get past it.

Talking to a trusted friend or family member can also help you identify fallacies in your thinking and give you the opportunity to sort through your feelings instead of merely experiencing them inside yourself.

Visualize yourself acting and doing things as you move forward and leave your regrets behind. Use the techniques of visualization and self-affirmation to help you through the steps.
Seek out groups or a coach in order to exercise your behavioral patterns. We didn't come this far alone; so take advantage of the greatest tools available. Life coaches and group therapy (oft times called 'gyms') are a wonderful way of celebrating human teamwork.

The most important thing to remember is that someone else may be in a much worse situation, and, statistically at least; you are considerably lucky.

Start the forgiving and healing process by visualizing the wronged person and yourself saying to them, "I forgive you" - even if you were the one who wronged them. You may then complete this healing circle by visualizing the wronged person replying to you, "And I forgive you also." Even a visualization of forgiveness can bring peace, and replace the idea of who was "right" and who was "wrong."

Warnings
Do not minimize the regret. Some regrets are devastating to those involved, but even the most serious regrets can and must be integrated in order to leave them in the past and live happily in the present and future. Accept it as it is and do not make it bigger or more powerful by dwelling on it.

Discovering the source of your regret but not modifying your behavior to avoid the situation in the future will lead to repeated regrets, possibly of greater intensity.

Enriching your baby’s nursery with floral monogram.

Before proceeding further, let me write about monograms.

Monograms are also known as symbols or logos, which are designed specifically for a company or a product.

Monograms are made usually with letters which are generally affixed on top a company’s stationery.

We have also seen monograms etched metals like police badges.

Have a look at what Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza from the DIY (Do It Yoursef) Network has accomplished. They teach you a new idea of gifting with flowers!

Wait! I am not talking about bouquets but about a great new gift-a Floral Monogram

In their blog, they teach you step by step how to create a floral monogram with hydrangea petals of eye catching pastel colours. With the use of velvet ribbons, you can customize to suit the season like summer, fall or winter.

In their nicely designed blog, it is mentioned that Cathie first made this project as a gift to her mother-in-law’s birthday to decorate her front door.

Next, her innovative craft was by using all the letters in her first name instead of just initials.

The way to create this cute floral monogram is explained in their blog.

What you need:

* 6-inch wood letter of choice

* white craft paint & paintbrush

* floral print scrapbook paper

* glue stick

* hot glue

* tacky glue

* 1 large silk hydrangea

* 1/4-inch decorative ribbon (enough to go around your letter, plus 10 inches)

* small rhinestones or ultra fine glitter

Plaque Steps:

1. Paint the back, front and sides of the letter with the white craft paint and allow to dry.

2. Lightly trace the letter onto the scrapbook paper. Cut out the tracing and use a glue stick to attach the paper to the front of the letter. Use your fingers to press out any air bubbles.

3. Cut 10 inches off your decorative ribbon. (This will be your hanger) Turn the letter over and attach the ribbon hanger by forming a “U” shape with the ribbon and hot gluing the ends of the ribbon to the back of the letter about 2 inches from the top.

4. Using your hot glue gun, attach the remaining ribbon around the outer edge of the letter.

5. Break apart the silk flower so you have lots of little petals. Use hot glue to attach the petals to the front of the letter. (You can glue them in a random pattern or a design of your choice) Use a drop of glue and add a few sprinkles of ultra fine glitter to the center of the petals or add rhinestones for decorative effect.

Think of this gift when next time you want to treat your teenager’s birthday.

Fathers Day is not a holiday!

In fact I thought so. I learnt it is a misconception.

Then what is a Fathers day?
It is a day to honor not only your father, but all gentlemen who possess fatherly qualities.

The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington.

Sonora Dodd of Washington, daughter of William Smart, a civil war veteran, first proposed this idea.

One day, in 1909, she was listening to a Mothers Day sermon. She immediately thought of her father who acted as her mother too, since she lost her at her childhood.

Her father William Smart, living in a rural farm in eastern Washigton had to raise all his six children.

His daughter Sonora Dodd, was deeply moved by her father’s selfless love care.

Want to give your best to your beloved father? Looking for the best of
gift baskets to present it to your father?
Fathers Day gifts offer the finest chocolates, nuts, wines, cheeses and fruits in pre-filled gift baskets.
They also offer you the chance to fill your own basket.

Tidbits about Fathers Day.

President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day.

Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.

President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.

Do you know Fathers Day is celebrated on different dates in different countries?
Yes, I read it in wikipedia.

Countries that observe Father's Day on the third Sunday of June:
Argentina, Canada, Cuba, France, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, UK and USA and many more countries.

In Austria it is on second Sunday in June
Australia celebreates Fathers Day on first Sunday in September
Italy on March 19th

The conflict between Faith and No Faith.

Let us say, you have cold now. At the slightest symptoms, you rush for medicines, imagine the worst possible of diseases, full of fear because of too much unwanted knowledge.

But when you were much younger, in childhood, you did not care much on a small wound or accident. You were sure, it is nothing, it will pass off.

So, what happened in between in our lives? What we have gained to lose faith?
Because we all live in surroundings where there are full of morbid ideas, people pass their time recounting disastrous and catastrophic things.

It has a profound negative impact on us. We tend to get influenced by these unwanted clutters.
And we don’t stop at this point, we also pass it on to our children.
Even on a casual fall, we warn them about microbes and so on. We advise them to take bed rest or disaster will occur.

Our child’s reaction will be ” What is going to happen to me? I may get tetanus or septic fever etc”. Three fourth of our resistance disappears.

Pl be aware that our body knows it must remain healthy, it knows the power to heal. Just say with absolute unshakable faith, ” It is nothing, it will go away”. Don’t think about it, it is over and it does go.

We should not allow a conflict inside, between faith and no faith.

I act with trust in my heart.

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION

"I act with trust in my heart. I speak with trust on my lips.
I walk with trust in my feet. "

"Trusting in your head is only a starting place. All manifestations on the earth plane start with an idea, a thought. This idea, however, must move out of the head in order to be manifested. Many people have beautiful ideas in their heads -- pictures and dreams of peace and harmony, with
no clue how to manifest the ideas into physical reality.

Creation happens through movement of thoughts. Living in your head or in isolation does not test your trust; movement tests your trust. Thoughts propel your movement: feelings
tell you the extent to which your intention and your movement are in alignment.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS
Identify an act you might take today that is a demonstration of your trust. It need not be a profound act (although profound is fine!). Perhaps your act of trust is speaking up in a situation in which you have considered yourself to be powerless.

Perhaps your act of trust is making a decision that has been hovering over you for a long time.
Perhaps your act of trust is exploring a deep issue you have been hesitant to look at. Perhaps your act of trust is taking a step in a different direction. In order to experience trust, you must put it out to the universe. You must give it away. "

What an excellent piece of work. It is amzing that one single person has such a fantastic knowledge about ways of living.

Do you know whom I am talking about?
It is none other than Jeanie Marshall.

Ortho Evra- birth control patch. Is it right for you?

What is Ortho Evra?

Ortho Evra is an adhesive, transdermal birth control patch that is worn on the torso.

How it works?

The patch is intended to release 150 mcg of norelgestromin and 20 mcg of ethinyl estradiol into the bloodstream per 24 hours. It is replaced once a week for three weeks, and no patch is worn during the fourth week during menstruation. The regimen is then repeated.

A brief history:

Ortho Evra was approved by the FDA in November 2001, and over 4 million women have used Ortho Evra since its approval. Ortho Evra continues to be marketed aggressively to both consumers and physicians.

But now, the firm Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc., that manufactures Ortho Evra faces a suit.

According to a web release for http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Ortho_Evra_Patch reports that
Parker & Waichman, LLP Files Suit Against Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc on behalf of a 33 year old woman and her husband.

The woman was diagnosed with Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism and Deep Venous Thrombosis after using Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch for 2 months.

Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc is a division of Johnson and Johnson Inc. (NYSE:JNJ).

Do you want to know what happened, since the said product is being marketed even now?

The woman suffered a bilateral pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after using Ortho Evra for two months.

Read more below about the web release for http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Ortho_Evra_Patch
The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey. For more information on Ortho Evra please visit http://www.orthopatchlawsuit.com or http://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Ortho_Evra_Patch.

In May 2005, the affected woman complained of short breath, chest pain. She was taken to the emergency room of Hillside Hospital in Tennessee

Diagnosis:

Tests revealed a bilateral pulmonary embolism with a large embolus in the right main pulmonary artery and right upper and right lower lobe peripheral infiltrates suspected to be pulmonary infarctions.

Additional tests revealed a deep venous thrombosis of the right popliteal vein extending to the right common femoral vein.

What is pulmonary embolism?

Pulmonary embolism is a sudden blockage in a lung artery, usually due to a blood clot that traveled to the lung from the leg but they can also form in the pelvic vein. Pulmonary thromboembolism can be fatal or may result in pulmonary arterial obstruction, pulmonary obstruction, pulmonary infarction, chronic pulmonary hypertension, dyspenea and tachypnea.

Symptoms:

Symptoms may include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, anxiety, chest pain, fainting and convulsions

Treatment:

The woman was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit where she received Coumadin and Lovenox treatment. She was to undergo prolonged treatment with these medications, which may be necessary for the remainder of her life. Treatment may include long term use of anticoagulant medications and/or surgery.

Deep venous thrombosis:

Deep venous thrombosis or DVT is a condition where a blood clot (Thrombus) forms within the deep vein system. The principal veins affected are those in the calf muscles, lower abdomen, groin and inner thigh. The thrombus can interfere with circulation and it may break off and travel through the blood stream, which can cause pulmonary embolism or stroke.

Treatment:
Treatment may include long term use of anticoagulant medications and/or surgery.

Ortho-Mcneil admits:

On November 10, 2005, Ortho McNeil, in conjunction with the FDA, issued a warning about the increased risks of blood clots associated with Ortho Evra.

In the new warning, Ortho-McNeil admitted for the first time that women who use the patch will be exposed to up to 60% more estrogen than they would be exposed to if they were taking a birth control pill with 35 micrograms of estrogen.

The new warnings from the FDA and Ortho-McNeil indicate that the risk of developing blood clots may be significantly higher with the Ortho Evra patch than with oral contraceptives

The patch is only intended to deliver 20 micrograms of estrogen. The FDA's announcement on this warning can be found at http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/2005/NEW01262.html.

The FDA has logged 9,116 reports of adverse reactions to the patch in a 17 month period, whereas Ortho Tri-Cyclen, a birth control pill, only generated 1,237 adverse reports in a six year period.

During a 12 month period, 44 serious injuries or deaths have been associated with Ortho Evra, whereas only 17 such reports were linked to the birth control pill during a similar time period.

The pattern is further magnified when usage rates are considered: Ortho Tri-Cyclen has six times the number of users as Ortho Evra.

Risk of blood clots:

It is widely understood that increased exposure to estrogen greatly increases the risk of blood clots, which can cause serious injury or death.. Recent reports have indicated that the risk of developing blood clots, pulmonary thromboembolism, heart attack and stroke may be significantly higher with the Ortho Evra patch than with oral contraceptive use.

It is alleged that Ortho-McNeil was aware of the increased medical risks associated with Ortho Evra before the drug was approved and that, once approved, the company failed to adequately warn patients about these risks.

Ortho Evra vs oral contraceptives:

Evidence shows that the risk of blood clots, heart attack and stroke associated with Ortho Evra is significantly higher, than with oral contraceptive pills.

Your home, furniture and you.

When was the last time you updated your house furniture?
Don’t remember?
OK, never mind. Do you at least remember how much did you spend for that?
Do you remember its style? Sure you do, because it still decorates your home.

I will tell you a little piece of evolution of furniture. No, this is not I studied in my college, but in a web release about banquet chairs.

There are so many different materials were used to make furniture,
Starting from woods of teak, oak, rose, bamboo. Great many styles and methods were applied.
The most usual methods being inlaying, carving and veneering.
Western furniture drew inspiration from Egyptian, Persian, Chinese, Greek and Gothic sources.

From ancient times, oriental furniture was carved on ebony and teak.
You can read a great deal about Egyptian furniture manufactured 6000 years ago, wherein they inlayed with gold and ivory and carved the entire piece in forms of animals.

Low couch were the fashion of Greeks.

Not lagging behind, the Romans adopted both Greek and Etruscan styles.

From the web release about banquet chairs, I learned that in modern times, new technology was born, like space saving folding chairs and beds.

For the first time metals were used in the manufacture of chairs, tables, recliners.

And now we witness a lot of moulded plastic chairs and ergonomic chairs.

The technological advances saw the advent of plywood in study tables, centre tables.

Now comfortable bean bags are made of leather and polymers.

Gold Bullion's natural value.

I am now 47 years old. Looking back about my career which started in 1986, I am amazed at my achievement so far. Sorry, I can’t help it; my ego urges me to pat myself.

How much I would have earned in these 20 years? Roughly US$ US$ 90k. Not bad-right?

My husband asked me today, “So, what is your bank balance?”
May be 1k. was my reply.

“You have managed to save 1.25% of what you have earned so far and you have toiled for 20 years” he replied.

I retorted, “What to do? Look at the inflation and economy. Prices have gone over the roof”.

He then showed me a small calculation which proved me wrong in my assumptions about price increase and all that.

He convinced me that, had I invested in gold or silver my savings would have been healthier. Actually the price of any commodity has not gone up; only the value of paper money has gone down.

He showed me a recent web release he read.

It agreed with what my husband told me.

The web release was about Buy Gold Bullion, a much respected precious metal dealer based in California, one of America’s oldest and biggest firms dealing with precious metals.

This precious metals dealer expert in this field has sold over billions of dollars worth of gold, silver, platinum and palladium since 1967.

The web release pointed to investment experts who have long since advised us of diversifying 10 to 20 % of our savings into bullion market such as gold, silver and platinum.

It reminded me about the gas price which was only 25 cents a gallon some years ago.
It is like buying 4 gallons of gas for a silver coin when US$ was backed by bullion.

And the beauty is even now you can buy the same quantity of gas for a silver coin.
This proves real gold or silver has retained their value but it is only the green paper is not worth the same.

Insure or ignore. The choice is yours gentleman.

“California figures in six of the top auto theft locations in the US.”

As per National Insurance Crime Bureau’s (NICB) latest report says GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Companies) California figures in six of the top auto theft locations in the US.

Nancy Pierce, regional vice president of GEICO, San Diego, location, advises all of us to take these precautionary steps to avoid car theft.

1) Never leave your keys in the car.

2) Leave your car in park or in gear with the wheels turned toward the curb or some other obstruction, so thieves won't be able to tow it easily.

3) If possible, park in busy, well-lit areas. Thieves prefer to work in the dark.

4) Avoid leaving valuables inside your vehicle where passersby can see them.

5) Install an anti-theft system in your vehicle if it doesn't have one. Ignition cut-off systems prevent a car from being started. One system emits a signal that can be tracked by the police. Thieves are reluctant to steal vehicles that can be tracked and recovered quickly. Many insurers offer discounts for these types of systems.

6) Beware of the "bump-and-rob" technique. Carjackers bump your car from the rear, and then steal it when you get out looking for damage.

7) When stopped at a traffic light, leave room to maneuver around the vehicle ahead if you need to. If another car bumps yours and you feel threatened, drive to a populated area. If you have a cell phone, call the police for assistance.

8) Do not leave your car papers in the car.

9) Avoid known high-crime areas even if the alternate route takes a little longer.

10) Have your car's vehicle identification number (VIN) etched on each of the windows. Car thieves want to get off cheap. They don't want to go to the expense of replacing all the glass

It is suggested to shop around a bit before you decide on car insurance.

I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of trust..

My last post was also about trust and its implications.

Today I received another news letter from daily affirmations with "trust' as the theme.

"I deepen my awareness of the consciousness of trust, from which my truthful actions spring."

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION

Consciousness is the stuff from which manifestations and actions are created. As you become more aware of the energy of those things that you desire to create and experience, you find that manifesting your dreams is effortless and enjoyable. You can accelerate your process by becoming more familiar with energetics.

If, for example, you desire to speak the truth, you must be able to recognize the energy of truth wherever it exists, regardless of the packaging. You can become quite distracted by packaging (e.g., superficially beautiful people with shallow personalities), and convinced of falsehoods (e.g., viewpoints presented and re-presented as facts in the media), and overcome by your own distresses (e.g., demands that overly stretch you).

You might trust such things because you see or hear or touch them, usually repeatedly. Let today's affirmation challenge you to go deeper than the surface.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS

What is the ONE most important thing you desire to accomplish today? (Yes, I know there are MANY things you desire to accomplish today and, furthermore, that you will accomplish far more than one thing. But, humor me, pick ONE.) Got it?

Now ask yourself some questions about this thing:
What is your intention?
What purpose does this thing have in your life?
How much do you trust yourself to accomplish the highest good for all through this thing?
What is your truth with respect to this thing?
Take a deep breath to deepen your awareness of the consciousness of trust. Repeat these four questions.
Trust the process.

Do you trust yourself?

I have subscribed to receive daily affirmations from http://www.dailyaffirm.com

I find them extremely thought provoking and motivationg. Ofcourse it is only for those who have a burning desire for self realisation.

I am giving below what I received today. If it interests you, you can also subscribe.
My life slogan: "Pass it on:Share."

Todays affirmation:
" I receive trust from the Universe. My trust in the invisible increases."

ABOUT TODAY'S AFFIRMATION:

Some folks say they only trust what they can see and/or touch. Even some folks who have deep trust in the invisible want to have certain things proven to them in the visible world. You might consider your own areas of trust in both the invisible and the visible.

The process of creation is the act of moving energy from the invisible (Spirit) into the visible (matter). This is relatively easy to understand when you think of certain everyday acts of creation. I expect that sitting at a blank computer screen receptive to putting ideas into words is a familiar experience to you. As the letters click under your fingers, words appear on the screen because you have moved the invisible to the visible. All things manifested in this world are the result of changing the density of energy from Spirit into matter.

ABOUT YOUR PROCESS

Consider those things in your life you trust that are visible, and those you trust that are invisible. Do you trust the recklessly driven car in front of you? -- that is visible. Do you trust the love you share with close friends -- that is invisible. Do you trust your own intuitions and inspirations? Do you trust yourself? Today, consider three events and/or persons in which you believe the quality of trust is particularly desired or needed.

How to solve a problem?

In Wayne Dyer's book " There is a spiritual solution to every problem "
He gives this introductory idea.

When you are faced with a problem, say out this affirmation:

" I may not know exactly how to access the spiritual solution here, but I fully recognise that a spiritual solution exists".

By recognition of its existence, we invite the power to be known by us.

Paralysis by Analysis.

Over analysing a goal can make it seem more complex and harder to reach.

Intelligent and creative people think up many brilliant ideas and reasons why their goal is unreachable.

They discourage themselves.

The above paragraph caught my attention when I was reading " 21 days to success " by Chris J. Witting, JR

When a new creative idea surfaces, it means you can do it. The idea is suggested to you by your subconscious mind. It is upto you to grab it and execute it.

On the other hand, as mentioned in the above quote, you can also sit down, start analysing it and give it up finally without placing your trust on God's help and guidance.

The very basic belief in prayer is questioned.

There was a news item in Deccan Chronicle dt 1st April entitled " Surgery prayer may harm" by Benedict Carey of New York Times Service.

True to human nature, this caught my attention I read on. Given below is the gist:
John Templeton Foundation has sponsored so far $2.4 million so far on the research of prayer's effect apart from research into spirituality. The US Govt has spent so far $2.3 million since 2003.

Their decade long study on 1800 patients revealed that prayers offered by strangers had no effect on the recovery of people. And patients who knew they were being prayed for, had a higher rate of post-operative complications because of the expectations the prayers created.

While proponents have believed that prayer is perhaps the most deeply human response to disease and that it may relieve suffering by some mechanism that is not yet understood, sceptics have contended that studying prayer is a waste of money and these are things beyond the reach of science.

Dr.Herbert Benson, a cardiologist and director of the Mind/Body Medical Institute near Boston, said the findings were not the last word on the effects of so-called intercessory prayer.

Dr.Richard Sloan, a professor of behavioural medicine at Columbia and author of a forthcoming book, Blind Faith: The Unholy Alliance of Religion and Medicine has an interesting and thought provoking say: " The problem with studying religion scientifically is that you do violence to the phenomenon by reducing it to basic elements that can be quantified, and that makes for bad science and bad religion"

I generally agree with Dr. Richard Sloan. And also if the persons praying are fully conscious of their deed as their own and attch themselves to the outcome, giving credit to their prayer, forgetting about divine intervention, this might have resulted in some negative findings as the study points out.

But I feel strongly against dissecting faith. If you have faith, just nourish it daily, safeguard it aginst these kind of news items.
