Today, I thought I will remember Linda Miller. It has been quite sometime that I paid a visit to her web site.

I was first attracted to her site because of Law of Attraction worked in my life. She has a valid point when saying why the law fails a few a people.

The main difference between people who have everything they want and those who failed to attract their desires is the purpose of their desires. It is our passion in our life that tells us what we have to do and what we want to fulfill our commitments.

People, money, objects, careers, whatever we want that is in line with our purpose will only manifest in reality.

Zen meditation candles.

I don't think it is in the Hindu culture to use candles while meditating. But in Zen culture, it seems, they use the candles.

In Japan, meditation candles are widely used as is evidenced by this website "The Japanese Connection"

However I was obliging an online contact and researching on Zen meditation methods and products they use during meditation. The material below is fascinating.

The Japanese connection says, "Warosoku, providing warm candlelight, comprise one of the three elements of simple Buddhist ceremonies of meditation and reverence. The other two elements include incense and flowers. Such ceremonies of light, flower and scent, date back to the sixth century in Japan. The wax of warosoku is formed from hazenoki, the sumac or wax tree. The wick, rather than string, is actually made of washi--Japanese hand-made paper."

Mr. Takazawa makes two basic types of warosoku for meditation, the ikari (wide at the top and narrow at the base) and the bou (even thickness throughout) forms. Meditation candles in these two forms have been around since about 1650. Mr. Takazawa's family business, begun in 1888, is itself over a hundred years old.

Each handmade candle is approximately 3.5 inches long, .4 inches in diameter at the bottom, and .7 inches in diameter at the top. Burn time is about 55 minutes per candle.

Frankl was the founder of logotherapy and Existential Analysis, the
"Third Viennese School" of psychotherapy. In his book, Man's Search For Meaning,

(first published in 1946) he chronicles his experiences
as a concentration camp inmate and describes his psychotherapeutic
method of finding meaning in all forms of existence, even the most
sordid ones, and thus a reason to continue living.

"...We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who
walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last
piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer
sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one
thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in
any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way..."

Victor Emil Frankl was liberated from the concentration camp in
1945. He went on to do many things, including running the Vienna
Poliklinik of Neurologics which he did until 1971. He lived a full
life, remarried and wrote many books, dying at the age of 92 in
1997.

Of humor he writes, "Humor is another of the soul's weapons in the
fight for self-preservation. It is well known that humor more than
anything else in the human makeup, can afford an aloofness and an
ability to rise above any situation..."

If a man who lived to the age of 92 surviving the brutalities of a
WWII concentration camp - learns to not only survive but find beauty
in all people (both captor and captive), events and circumstances
where others would recoil and find only horror knows this - what
does that say of our own circumstances? How bad is it really?

Do yourself a favor - laugh. Be grateful - be ongoing. Enjoy your
life - find the little things that make you happy and make you
grateful. Write a list of your happy thoughts, read it over when
you're feeling down and you'll find yourself feeling better in no
time!

The woes of a truck driver.

This happened several years ago. At that time, I just entered the Internet. I did not even have my own computer and used public Internet café.

I accidentally developed a contact online with a log distance truck driver named Michael. He was moving heavy equipments across Canada. Somehow we stuck a wonderful vibration and he went out of his way to help me in several matters online.

I surrendered.

So, at last, I surrendered at the lotus of feet of God (Lord Vishnu).

To attain this state of mind, several writers helped me. I can point out Dr. Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle and The Mother. I owe my fullest gratitude to all of them.

Another person who was instrumental for my surrender is Mr. Kannan, my husband's cousin. He narrated great many truths in Hindy mythology and the importance of surrender. He is a Vice President of a Pharamcaeutical firm.


So, the previous Sunday, I and my husband took Baranyasam (Prabatti) with the assistance of family religious leader Srimad Andavan.

Baranyasam means laying down all our aspirations, desires and concerns at the feet of God and dedicate the results of all our actions and deeds to the God.

Believe it friends, a deep sense of calmness has descended on both of us. A blissful peace is being experienced right now.

I chant "Namo Narayana" and immediately feel the peace and calm.

This bay may not be very popular among normal vacationers but it is sought after by sheer nature lovers as it offers outstanding views. One more such place in Hawaii is Kileaua.

Don't eat fish.

Why people have the hobby of growing fish in their house? It is definitely not to eat them one day but just to watch them grow.

We feed them, provide fresh water and oxygen, decorate he fish tank with plants and colored lights and do all these just to watch them happily swimming around. It is a relaxing hobby. In fact, it actually relaxes you relieving you of your stress.

The reason we hang beautiful pictures depicting natural scenes is also mainly for stress relieving. You become calm and merge with the God in them.

Are there any similarities between Hinduism and Shinto?

’Yes’ is the answer given by somebody, somewhere but I don't agree. In fact I would never compare any two religions. One may find a few aspects that look alike but the founder knows there is nothing. Every religion is based on certain divine principles but all religion defends humanity to the core.

I know that in Hinduism, for which no one man is attributed as its founder existed more than 5000 years ago as proved by the archaeological discoveries in Harappa and Mohenjadaro.

The different Gods in the Hinduism must have come much later but there are no historical evidences for that too.

Do we have to follow rituals?

After my previous post on placing our will at the disposal of God, I retired to bed pondering over the Sunday’s function in which I and my husband are officially (?) surrendering at the feet of Lord Vishnu preceded by some religious rituals.

I am not going to elaborate on the rites and its outcome but let me outline the philosophy behind it. The meaning behind our surrender is to dedicate all the results (be it good or bad.) of our actions to the God.

In our family circle, we sometimes debate on the philosophies of Hinduism and Buddhism and many times, the exchange of views between us revealed similarities on certain basic tenets.

Without going into all the details, I will cite only one example between these two religions and that is idol worship. Personally, I think Buddhism is simpler in its philosophy.

I have answered a question on Blurt it. The question is, “Buddhism is more philosophy than religion. What are your thought on it?” The answer is my own opinion and I am aware there may be a difference to it.

In all religion, we should try to understand the inner meaning or the essence of it and how the rituals help in making us understand the philosophy of the religion.

I am giving below an incident that took place in my friend's life long time back. He was traveling from New Delhi to Madras in a train. He wanted to use the bathroom. Since it was occupied, he crossed over the vestibule to next coach's bathroom. As he was about to enter, another person rushed in, so my friend returned to his seat.

In the next minute, the train derailed and all the coaches up to the one he went by crossing the vestibule toppled. Imagine my friend's state of mind.

When I was a teenager, I read Ayn Rand with passion. I was terribly impressed by her ideals, writing style and philosophy.

At that age, I firmly believed that head should rule the heart. I earned the wrath of my family and they called me adamant. I just took it in my stride; I knew I was not adamant.

But, now that I have aged, read spirituality and thus came to a conclusion that the heart should rule the head. Listening to the inner voice is more virtuous and wise. Neglecting your feelings and emotions will surely thwart my spiritual growth.

Mr. Kaiser argued that a person should trust the heart more than the head.

Taking things for granted is human attitude. Let us take that attitude for granted.

But that doesn't mean that the attitude is correct. It needs to be changed. Let me explain why.

In daily routine, several events occur that we name as coincidences. But it is not so. Nothing happens in this world by accident. Every situation, event or circumstance is attracted by our habitual thinking only.

When good things happen, we call it a miracle and when it is not so, we lament on our bad luck or bad time.

When good things happen we again don't question how and why it happened; we just take credit for that or call it a miracle. We simply fail to recognize the work of God behind it and promptly forget to express our gratitude.

Of course, God doesn't expect you to say thanks to him. But when genuinely feel gratified and say it so, we are in vibrational harmony with the universal force and we naturally attract more good things in life.

We all enjoy so many good things daily. For all these goodness, repeat this word as many times as possible in day. " Thank you father for my wealth"

But I feel I have not understood the example laid out by Laurie on how the belief system will help in changing the consciousness.

I need to dwell on these lines a little more to understand the meaning of it.
