Who will win the FIFA world cup?

Working out various permutations and combinations, pouring over history and statistics, arguing and debating in bars and restaurants, every possible result is being arrived at. At least this is what I am reading in newspapers.

May be I am the odd woman out amidst this crazy following.
I am at a financial loss due to the recent gold price fluctuation.

There are several attempts to cheer me up by making me accept that I have not truly lost any cash but only made a small loss against profit since my present bullion holding was bought years ago for a very small price when compared to the current price.

But tell me sir; a loss is a loss-isn’t it?
One thing that truly pepped me up is general envy among my friends that I had been wise to have diversified my investment portfolio in precious metals apart from stocks and shares and immovable assets.

I remember reading long ago that political uncertainties, and frequent change of Govt policies is sure to affect the economy of the common man more than the Govt.

The advantages of investing in bullion market:
Easy liquidity
Insured against decline in the value of national currency
Assured price appreciation

A simple proof as told by the web release for Silver:

“When you were able to buy gas for only 25-cents a gallon, you could take a dollar down to the gas station and buy four gallons for a buck! At that time our dollar was backed by REAL money, real silver. Guess what? That same amount of silver still buys four gallons of gas! That just shows that real money like gold and silver holds its value and it is the green paper money that is now worth a lot less.”

Monex has this data in their site:
“Do you know the price of gold increased approximately 6% in 2004, while the price of silver increased over 15%.”
Since 1967, well over one hundred thousand investors have purchased billions of dollars of gold, silver, platinum and palladium bullion coins, worth over $25 billion from Monex, one of the country's oldest, largest and most experienced firms specializing in precious metals for the individual investor.

Aim+ effort=Joy

Right from our school days, we have been bombarded by our teachers and peers to have an aim in our life.

Naturally, we have never taken it seriously (I am not an excluded) till we catch up ourselves with somewhat bleak future and dark roads. Because, we were never explained in a pragmatic way, why we should set up an aim.

But I am truly awakened at the ripe age of 50, when I started reading 'Questions and Answers by The Mother', a series of 4 volumes.

Here is what she says about aim and effort:

An aim gives a meaning, a purpose in life and this purpose implies an effort. And it is in effort that one finds joy. Effort makes the being vibrate at a certain degree of tension, which make it possible for you to feel the joy.

These vibrations enable you to get connected with Universal vibrations. It is effort which pulls you out of inertia. It is effort which makes you receptive to Universal forces.

How?
For example, a man sits down to write a book (or a blog entry) he makes an effort which sets vibrating something in his brain to attract ideas. Suddenly, this man experiences joy. Whatever you do like sweeping a room or cooking, if you make the necessary effort to do it to the maximum of your ability, you will joy.

When you want to realize something, you make a spontaneous effort. This concentrates your energies on the thing to be realized and that gives a meaning to your life.
This gives you the power to receive energies in exchange for those you spend.

Want to overcome your regrets?

Before expressing what I have read about the subject, I want to quote here one of the best pieces of advice I have read elsewhere.

“The two most fuile emotions in our life are worry and guilt.
Guilt for has been done and worry for what might be done.”

Both are absolutely inconseqential NOW.

Have you ever heard of a life without regrets? No? We all regret our actions in the past.
I have heard so many times ‘ No, I have no regrets’. But I never said that sentence. I do regret several of my actions and decisions and I vowed never to repeat in my life.

But I must confess that , regrets can become big burdens that stand in the way for my present happiness.
I read about the following steps to overcome my regerts in a site called wikihow.com
I share with you for your benefit. If you find it useful, share it with others.

Steps
Determine what your regret really is. Do you regret something you did? Something you didn't do? Something someone else did or did not do?

A circumstance beyond your control? It is important to step back from the feelings of regret and identify exactly what the regret is.

Analyze the regret and how you look at it. How does it make you feel? Is it based on facts? Are your feelings distorting what really happened or making it worse? Is this confusion limiting you in your current relationships and objectives? Are you trying to be perfect or change future events when that is not possible? You may also regret a situation over which you had little or no control, or a situation that you assume would have happened if you had chosen differently. Taking a good look at how you're thinking - and identifying possible fallacies in your thinking - is vital to working through regrets, but it takes time, effort, and usually some outside help.

Accept the circumstances. There may be responsibility for yourself or others. Recognize the responsibility, not blame, as well as the consequences of holding on to the regret.

Grieve for your regrets. When we feel regret, we are feeling sadness, anger, or whatever other feelings we first had for a situation - even though the experience is past. Allowing yourself to experience these feelings with the intention of moving forward can help you stop revisiting them over and over.

Forgive and make amends. If there is something that you can do now, do it! Apologize for your behavior. Breaking limiting behavioral patterns empowers you toward productive patterns. "Fix" whatever you can. Forgive yourself and others, and be compassionate toward everyone involved. If you find it helpful, use prayer or meditation to seek insight, courage, strength, forgiveness and peace.

Recognize what you have learned or gained. When you find yourself thinking of the regret, turn your thoughts to the things you have learned and the opportunities that are now yours - even if they are not what you would have preferred. There is always a lesson even in pain and sadness. Look for the lesson and focus on it instead of what might have been.

Tips
Writing about your regrets, feelings, and frustrations can help a lot as you seek to identify and analyze your regrets. Putting your thoughts into written words can clarify them in ways that will astonish you. Writing also takes a regret out of your internal emotions and puts it down where you can study and find ways to get past it.

Talking to a trusted friend or family member can also help you identify fallacies in your thinking and give you the opportunity to sort through your feelings instead of merely experiencing them inside yourself.

Visualize yourself acting and doing things as you move forward and leave your regrets behind. Use the techniques of visualization and self-affirmation to help you through the steps.
Seek out groups or a coach in order to exercise your behavioral patterns. We didn't come this far alone; so take advantage of the greatest tools available. Life coaches and group therapy (oft times called 'gyms') are a wonderful way of celebrating human teamwork.

The most important thing to remember is that someone else may be in a much worse situation, and, statistically at least; you are considerably lucky.

Start the forgiving and healing process by visualizing the wronged person and yourself saying to them, "I forgive you" - even if you were the one who wronged them. You may then complete this healing circle by visualizing the wronged person replying to you, "And I forgive you also." Even a visualization of forgiveness can bring peace, and replace the idea of who was "right" and who was "wrong."

Warnings
Do not minimize the regret. Some regrets are devastating to those involved, but even the most serious regrets can and must be integrated in order to leave them in the past and live happily in the present and future. Accept it as it is and do not make it bigger or more powerful by dwelling on it.

Discovering the source of your regret but not modifying your behavior to avoid the situation in the future will lead to repeated regrets, possibly of greater intensity.

Enriching your baby’s nursery with floral monogram.

Before proceeding further, let me write about monograms.

Monograms are also known as symbols or logos, which are designed specifically for a company or a product.

Monograms are made usually with letters which are generally affixed on top a company’s stationery.

We have also seen monograms etched metals like police badges.

Have a look at what Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza from the DIY (Do It Yoursef) Network has accomplished. They teach you a new idea of gifting with flowers!

Wait! I am not talking about bouquets but about a great new gift-a Floral Monogram

In their blog, they teach you step by step how to create a floral monogram with hydrangea petals of eye catching pastel colours. With the use of velvet ribbons, you can customize to suit the season like summer, fall or winter.

In their nicely designed blog, it is mentioned that Cathie first made this project as a gift to her mother-in-law’s birthday to decorate her front door.

Next, her innovative craft was by using all the letters in her first name instead of just initials.

The way to create this cute floral monogram is explained in their blog.

What you need:

* 6-inch wood letter of choice

* white craft paint & paintbrush

* floral print scrapbook paper

* glue stick

* hot glue

* tacky glue

* 1 large silk hydrangea

* 1/4-inch decorative ribbon (enough to go around your letter, plus 10 inches)

* small rhinestones or ultra fine glitter

Plaque Steps:

1. Paint the back, front and sides of the letter with the white craft paint and allow to dry.

2. Lightly trace the letter onto the scrapbook paper. Cut out the tracing and use a glue stick to attach the paper to the front of the letter. Use your fingers to press out any air bubbles.

3. Cut 10 inches off your decorative ribbon. (This will be your hanger) Turn the letter over and attach the ribbon hanger by forming a “U” shape with the ribbon and hot gluing the ends of the ribbon to the back of the letter about 2 inches from the top.

4. Using your hot glue gun, attach the remaining ribbon around the outer edge of the letter.

5. Break apart the silk flower so you have lots of little petals. Use hot glue to attach the petals to the front of the letter. (You can glue them in a random pattern or a design of your choice) Use a drop of glue and add a few sprinkles of ultra fine glitter to the center of the petals or add rhinestones for decorative effect.

Think of this gift when next time you want to treat your teenager’s birthday.
